Case Studies
i3 Research
i3 Research is a full-service, global clinical research organization therapeutically focused on: central nervous system, oncology, respiratory and infectious diseases, endocrinology and metabolic diseases, and cardiology. The company has the resources to launch clinical trials all over the world, and can assist with nearly all aspects of clinical trial management.
CHALLENGE
i3 Research were having issues ascertaining which delegates required further training on clinical trial protocols. They needed a simple, accurate method of measuring which seminars needed improvement, as well as a way to assess delegates without taking the traditional pen and paper route, the marking of which cost time and money. The company were also concerned with the lack of feedback from attendees and wished to obtain honest opinions about their courses.
SOLUTION
After a consultation with one of the Eurosis sales team, i3 Research decided to pose training questions based around streamed video footage, using the audience response system, and attach points to correct answers. This meant that the trainer, by using the reporting facilities, could instantly see which delegates required further training and whether the presentation or course had been understood. As the interactive voting software could be set to anonymous, delegates felt more inclined to respond to questions, without worrying about the fear of getting a question incorrect. This encouraged greater interaction from the delegates and enabled i3 to gain a better understanding of training needs.
CONCLUSION
I3 have benefitted enormously from using the interactive voting system. It has improved decision-making within the organisation, helping to ascertain and isolate courses which are ineffective. This has saved the company money. If delegates cannot understand the course, it is not benefitting anyone by continuing with the topic! If a seminar has been understood and well received, delegates can move on to another protocol without spending time studying material which they already know. This has helped i3 Research prioritise subjects which need further review, as well as helping to improve subject material so that trainers can meet their objectives. Instant reports show how individuals scored, saving further administrative time and costs associated with marking assessments and delegates were impressed, as they could find out whether they require further training. In fact, so encouraged were i3 by the initial feedback, the company now use the wireless keypads to monitor attendance and delegate feedback at courses as well and are investigating other areas within the business where they could utilise audience response.
