NHS Confederation

Alt text The NHS Confederation is the independent membership body for the full range of organisations that make up the NHS. It represents over 95% of NHS organisations as well as a growing number of independent healthcare providers.

CHALLENGE

The NHS Confederation was interested in experimenting with new technology to interact with delegates and thought that the electronic voting system would enhance their annual conference. They were also interested in obtaining delegate opinions and feedback on various issues.

SOLUTION

After seeing a demonstration and discussing the benefits of using the interactive voting keypads with Eurosis, the NHS Confederation decided to use it in a breakout session as well as the plenary. The breakout session involved a panel discussion and the organisers were interested in using the comparison feature of the software, to allow them to measure swings in audience opinion. The results also provided a point of debate and facilitated free flowing dialogue between the participants and the presenters.

CONCLUSION

The audience response system definitely did not disappoint and the Confederation was so impressed, they confirmed the use of electronic voting keypads on future events. Not only did the organisation gather delegate opinions on important matters, they were also able to obtain valuable marketing data on future attendance levels and what the audience would like to see on the meeting programme. With this information, the NHS Confederation could assess how popular a meeting would be, how many people would pay to attend and which topics would be of interest. The interactive voting system also enhanced the enjoyment of the day and enabled delegates to feel that they had contributed to the conference.
